Help me shorten my resume?















There are many resumes which are quite lengthy because of the vast experience and job tasks completed over a period of time. It is true that as a job applicant you wish to gain more recognition that you are not only efficient but deliver effective work to the employers. Keeping this fact in view, you wish to write more and this lengthens your resume.

While employers receive hundreds of resumes every day, it becomes very difficult for them to go through your resume, if it is lengthy as they may not be able to find what they are looking for and as a result of this, your resume may go unnoticed. Therefore it is always recommended to bring down the length of your resume and make it only 2 page resume.

In spite of the fact that you have more than a two decades of experience or more than three decades of experience, it is important to shorten your resume by quoting some of the highlights of your career and this can be made possible when you follow the following format :

  1. Name, address, Email, Contact No.
  2. Synopsis : What you are seeking in corporate sector to be stated in 10-15 words
  3. Brief profile or summary of your career
  4. Expertise areas
  5. Work experience viz., name of company, city, designation and duration.
  6. Job task highlights should be provided in brief.
  7. Projects attended and completed successfully.
  8. Extra activities, awards, social services
  9. Hobbies
It is not required to provide each and every detail whereas you cut short your resume details wherever required keeping in view of the job you are applying for and all the qualities and requirements that you mention in your resume should be in accordance and relevant to the job.
